Description:
Designs and develops integrated solutions through tools, processes, and procedures to facilitate the cost effective delivery of engineering services. Provides planning, analysis, and development of system upgrades and user interface design solutions to complex human factor problems. Develops validation schemes and performs testing and integration and maintenance. Escalates problem resolution of computer environments, systems, subsystems, and components. Monitors, investigates, and resolves system operation issues in accordance with standard procedures; documents and communicates resolution. Tracks industry trends and technical developments. Analyzes potential system investments and prepares supporting documentation for recommendation( s) to management and customers. Bases results on independent assessment of current and future performance, stability, and systems management/life cycle issues.
Key Accountibilities and Responsibilities:
Technology:Knows computer hardware, operating system software, and desktop applications to generate functional requirements. Assists in development of system engineering solutions. Evaluates/recommends Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) tools for suitability/applicability/integration. People:Provides technical support and consultation on proposed and current systems. Writes engineering product specifications, coordinates with design groups to ensure correct implementation, and develops test plans for field validation by customers. Customer:Interacts with customers at all levels to gather and define requirements for engineering process based information systems. Business:Performs and evaluates cost analyses and vendor comparisons of software and hardware systems to ensure cost effective and efficient operations. Measures feasibility of various approaches and makes recommendations. Financial:Assists with long-range strategic planning. Supports both short term and long term Information Technology (IT) investment decisions as they relate to engineering technology.
